Renowned drone maker DJI have just announced they’ve teamed up with thermal-imaging specialist FLIR to release a gimbal-supported thermal-imaging camera for the Inspire drone series. It is called the Zenmuse XT, and it basically gives smooth gimbal-supported Predator-vision to any Inspire series or Matrice 100 series drone.
FLIR estimates it will become available for purchase sometime around February/March 2016. Prices will be revealed closer to the shipping date, though don’t expect these to be cheap. Similar FLIR cameras can cost over $3000 for the higher resolution variants, and that doesn’t even include the advanced gimbal integration. More information can be found on DJI’s official release.
